Tom’s eyes lighted up. If there was anyone who was especially dear to his heart, it was his little Joy. Several times he had shown me her picture and I knew that he loved her dearly.
“Tom, you love Joy, don’t you?”
“Oh,” he said, ”I love her more than I can tell you.” Then with a look of real sincerity, Tom said, “I’d gladly die for that little tyke.”
“All right,” I continued. “You love her so much that you would do anything for her. Now let me ask you something:
Where does all love come from? Who invented love? Who is the source of all love?”
”I don’t know,” Tom said. “I’ve never thought about that.”
“All love comes from God,” I explained. “He is the One who created love. God is love. And He is the One who makes it possible for us, His creatures, to love.
“Tom,” I continued, “the love you have in your heart for your wife and your little girl is nothing compared to God’s love for you! Human love is only a thimble full. He can love us a million times more than we can love each other. He is the source of all love!”
Tom sat quietly for a minute, mulling it over in his mind. Then he spoke, “Now I see it … But how do we know He loves us so much?”
“God’s love is manifested to us in a thousand ways,” I said, “But the only real way to know, is to experience it.”
“How do you do that?” he asked.
“Just let Him love you.” Then I turned to some verses in the Bible that showed us how much God loves us: “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him” (I John 4:9). “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation [mercy seat] for our sins” (I John 4:10). “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because He laid down His life for us” (I John 3:16).
God was speaking to Tom. And he was beginning to understand.
“Now, Tom,” I continued, “through the Bible you can learn that God loves you. This invention concerns an improved process for making ready a PCB Assembly whereby the development comprises. But through accepting Christ as your
personal Saviour, you can experience His love. Some years ago I did this very thing. I saw that God loved me. Then I asked Christ to come into my heart and save me. I asked Him to forgive my sins, and I placed my trust in Him. Immediately, like a miracle, He quietly took up His abode in my heart. And through the years God’s love has become more and more real to me.
